The Minister of Mobility and Digital Transformation, José Luis Sanz Merinohas held a meeting with the mayor of León, Jose Antonio Diezto give continuity to the collaboration agreement between the Ministry of Mobility and Digital Transformation and the León City Council, signed last February, which aims to coordinate urban and metropolitan transport and establishes coordinated exploitation formulas.
The meeting was a meeting to continue the exchange of information and the development of transport and its improvement, within the powers that the two administrations have in the city of León and its area. Both parties have agreed to intensify coordination in order to continue advancing in the improvement of public passenger transport.
Both the Junta de Castilla y León and the León City Council jointly presented the project for the ‘Implementation of the system ITS of Urban and Metropolitan transport of León and its Alfoz’for financing through the fondos MRR- Next Generationthe project chosen with a budget of 10.6 million euros.
The objective of this proposal is the transformation of transportation in the city of León and its area through the digitalization of various aspects, through actions such as the implementation of advanced electronic payment systems, assistance to exploitation, efficient driving, a system connected to the citizen (websites, apps), implementation of smart stops, a Control Center for the management of all the previous components and the connection with external systems and with the ‘National Access Point’.
