Bogotá, October 9, 2024.- The country’s capital is hosting two major sporting events this week, in which athletes from Team Bogotá take part, who also have a fairly hectic agenda at the national and international level.
The Pan American Ski Championship started at the Los Lagartos Club, an event that has the participation of 130 athletes from the 14 year old, 17, 21, and Open categories, who represent 10 countries on the continent, namely Canada, the United States, Chile , Brazil, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Mexico, Peru and Colombia.
The Colombian card is Daniela Verswyvel García from Bogotá, who -despite her youth- has a great international career and is a favorite to win. Athletes will compete in the slalom, figure and jump modalities.
On the other hand, the XVIII Fedediv National Visual Disability Games are being held in various venues in the capital, whose competitions are in the sports of chess, bowling, 5-a-side soccer, goalball and judo, and in which Bogotá hopes to stand out.
Good harvest
The positive results of Team Bogotá were led by swimming with fins, with the World Cup in the Americas sector in Barranquilla; Colombia was champion with 17 medals (6 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze), and Bogotá contributed 9 medals, divided into 2 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze.
The Bogotá golds went to María Camila Aguirre (100 m diving) and Paula Alejandra Aguirre (50 m freediving); The silvers were achieved by María Camila Aguirre (50 m freediving), Natalie Montoya (50 m surface), Brayan Salgado (100 m bi fins) and Samuel Roa (400 m bi fins); and the bronzes went to Paula Aguirre (50 m surface), Sofía Rodríguez (100 m diving) and Samuel Roa (100 m bi fins).
On the other hand, in the South American Open Swimming Championships held in Cali, Colombia finished second with 7 medals (2 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze), of which Bogotá gave it 1 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze. Also notable was his participation in the South American Wheelchair Basketball Championship held in Lima, Peru. Colombia took third place behind Argentina (champion) and Brazil (runner-up), and all three will go to the Copa América 2025, with the best on the continent. Coach Luis Alberto Ninco and players Leidy Gisela González, Karen Natalia Barreto and Karen Vanessa Dueñas, all from Team Bogotá, stood out on the tricolor team.

-In the National Elite Track Cycling Championship held in Medellín, Bogotá was fourth with 1 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze. The gold was won by Javier Jamaica in the points test, in which the silver went to Brandon Rojas, also from Bogotá.
-With one silver and two bronze medals, Bogotá was second in the national BMX Cup in Ubaté, Cundinamarca. The silver was won by Yolmer Murillo in the men’s elite.
-The Top National Judo U-13 and U-15 Rankings were held in Bogotá, to define the athletes who will represent Colombia in the South American category in Cúcuta, this weekend. For Bogotá, Allison Muñoz and Andrés Cabrera qualified in Sub-13; In U-15, Stephany Aldana, Valentina Futinico and Kevin Pérez were chosen.
