After three years in Italian volleyball, Brazilian coach Cezar Douglas faces a new challenge in the 2024/2025 season, this time in Poland. He manages Steam Hemarpol Norwid Częstochowa and is already showing a promising start to the year at the head of the team.

In the last two rounds of the National League, the highlight was the impressive triumphs by 3 sets to 2 over the current champions and runners-up of the Champions League, Kedzierzyn-Kozle and Jastrzebski, respectively.

In four games played, the team led by the Brazilian has three wins in four games and is in the G8 of the qualifying phase.

“It is the beginning of a lot of analysis about the championship and about our players for the organization of planning and development of training. These two victories were important for the club and for us as a team under construction as well. The key was emotional balance in the moments difficult, always believe and maintain consistency in game tactics within our characteristics”, said Cezar in an interview with Pro Sports Brazil.

In recent seasons, Cezar Douglas led Italian volleyball clubs. In the 2022/23 season, with Vibo Valentia, he won the Italian Championship, the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana in the A2 category. He spent last season with the Farmitalia Catania team. In 2023, he was named the best coach in the Italian Serie A2.

Polish fans had the opportunity to get to know him up close at last year’s edition of the Bogdanka Volley Cup pre-season tournament. On that occasion, Cezar was champion while leading the Farmitalia Catania-Saturnia Volley.

“It’s an important challenge and a great opportunity to add knowledge to my volleyball career, after all, Italy and Poland are two powers with some similarities, but also different game characteristics, both winners in recent years”, said the coach.
