Broken hand: German NBA star falls out! Fibich & Sabally win WNBA titles

Isaiah Hartenstein will miss several weeks for the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a hand injury. In addition, Nyara Sabally and Leonie Fiebich won the WNBA title. All news are updated.

Hartenstein injured

Isaiah Hartenstein is missing from the Oklahoma City Thunder for five to six weeks. As the franchise and Shams Charania report, the 26-year-old broke his left hand. The injury happened in the preparation game against the Denver Nuggets. Hartenstein will not make his debut for OKC until late November or early December at the earliest.

The 26-year-old moved to the Thunder as a free agent in the summer and signed a three-year, $87 million contract. After good first impressions in the preseason, disillusionment followed with the broken hand.

Kawhi missed the start of the season

The Los Angeles Clippers will have to make do without Kawhi Leonard for the first few weeks of the season. As Shams Charania reports, the 33-year-old is recovering from a sore throat in his right knee. However, it is still unclear how long the Clippers will have to do without Leonard.

The two-time Finals MVP had already missed the Pre-Season and the Training Camp. He had actually hoped to play in the first game of the season, but that plan didn’t come to fruition. “I never plan on missing games, but it’s all about my body,” he said at the end of September. “I’m a human being and we play basketball.”

Leonard, along with James Harden, is the big hope after Paul George left the team in the summer. However, Kawhi’s injury problems could mean the Clippers have a difficult time competing for the playoffs this season.

Will Giannis Trade?

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s time with the Milwaukee Bucks could be coming to an end. Speaking to The Athletic, the Greek explained that he might be traded if the Bucks don’t win the title next season. “Yeah, if we don’t win the championship, I might get traded. This is the job we live in. This is the world we live in,” said Antetokounmpo.

The Bucks are in a difficult situation. They pay the third-highest luxury taxes in the league and are above the Second Apron, which is why they can’t include hefty salaries in trades. In addition, Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton have always struggled with injuries.

Antetokounmpo has also been out of action in recent years, including missing almost the entire series against the Indiana Pacers in the last playoffs. He is under contract with the Bucks until the 2026/27 season and has a player option for the following season.

Liberty and WNBA-Meister

The New York Liberty with the two national players Leonie Fiebich and Nyara Sabally and a new champion in the WNBA. New York won the deciding game five 67:62 after overtime. Both Fiebich and Sabally each scored 13 points and seven rebounds. For the Liberty it is the first title win in franchise history.

“Congratulations to Leonie and Nyara on the championship!!! Celebrate well!!!”, thanks to Dirk Nowitzki from Platform

“This championship ring is for my whole family, especially Satou. “She’s always been by my side through my ups and downs – and I’ve had a lot of downs,” Sabally said.

“To be honest, I can’t even realize what has happened in the last few months,” said Fiebich: “We had big goals: with the national team and the Liberty.” I’m just proud to have achieved these goals.”
