The Broncos played a game Thursday night against the host New Orleans Saints, hours before the shooting, although Reynolds did not travel. The 29-year-old player was in the process of recovery after undergoing surgery due to a finger injury.
During his career, Reynolds accumulates 232 receptions for a total of 3,116 yards and 20 touchdown receptions in 112 games (54 starts) in eight seasons with the Los Angeles Rams (2017-20), Tennessee Titans (2021), Detroit Lions (2021- 23) and Broncos.
Chased after leaving a strip club
The police report indicates that Reynolds and two other people were in a strip club called ‘Shotgun Willie’s’ in Glendale, a Denver suburb, and that the group left at 2:45 a.m. local time in two different vehicles. Reynolds and a man left in a pickup truck and told police that several vehicles followed them before the shooting began. The other man was shot in the back.
On Wednesday, Denver police announced the arrest of Burr Charlesworth, 42, and Luis Mendoza, 35in relation to these events. The two men are being held for attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault.
According to Reynolds’ group, there were no problems within the club. They told police the suspects followed them to a highway in a total of four vehicles, where the van carrying Reynolds broke down and the shooting occurred.
