A month ago there were over 2,500 participants to the last round of the first national circuit of pickleballa clear demonstration that this new discipline is meeting the interest of enthusiasts even on Italian soil. The pitch did not disappoint expectations since this discipline is easy to learn, extremely fun with its fast pace and potentially very long rallies, truly accessible to everyone.
It is above all preparatory to tennisdestined to become a must among racket lovers. So the time has come for the best pickleball players on the peninsula to compete in the Regional Masters which took place in last weekend.
Only the best from each region were granted visas for the National Master, scheduled in Turin, during the Nitto ATP Finals, on the courts set up in the Inalpi Arena village.
In Campania the selection test was hosted at Palepolis in Naplesin the spaces of Overseas Exhibitionwith the coordination of the teacher Piero Monte and the support of the Fitp Promoter Fabio De Lucia. Five tournaments were played and six passes were awarded for Turin. In the singles events victories for Vincenzo D’Amato and Milena Masullo. D’Amato was also dominant in doubles, with the titles achieved in the men’s pairs competition Million and in mixed with Buonocore. In the women’s doubles, however, victory for the tandem Morretta/Di Pino.
Campo simile al badminton (6.10 x 13.41 meters for both matches with two and four participants), scoring borrowed from the “old” volleyball with the concept of ball exchange, tennis game principles: pickleball is a mix of more traditional and proven sportswith some peculiarities and with the ease of socialization already successfully tested in padel.
Easier than padel (where to play well you also need to understand the walls), pickleball is having a good appeal among racket enthusiasts. All members were able to participate in the circuit FITP from Under 14 upwards, in possession of a competitive or non-competitive tennis, padel or beach tennis card, without any ranking or ranking history limit.
