Cancun 2024 Badminton Tournament Inaugurated – Diario Cambio 22 – Peninsula Libre
  • More than 100 players participate and it brings together competitors from the Under-9 category to the Open Category.

CANCUN, Q. ROO, October 12 – In the middle of a great sports festival, I created the Sports Institute of the Municipality of Benito Juárez, in collaboration with the Quintana Roo Sports Commission, the Cancún Badminton Club and the Quintana Roo Badminton Association , officially inaugurated the Cancún 2024 Badminton Tournament, which takes place at the Kuchil Baxal gym.

With the participation of 100 registered players, the tournament brings together competitors from the Under-9 category to the Open Category, in the singles modality, with Initiation, Intermediate and Advanced levels.

The athletes come from different parts of the country, including Cancún, Mexico City, Veracruz, Yucatán and Quintana Roo, with notable participation from municipalities such as Chetumal, Solidaridad and Puerto Morelos. Educational institutions such as La Salle, Anáhuac and the Universidad de Oriente also participate.

The ceremonial opening event was attended by sports authorities.

Representing the Municipal President, Ana Paty Peralta, the head of the Sports Institute’s office, Alejandro Luna López, offered a few words of welcome to the participants, highlighting the importance of promoting disciplines such as badminton in the region.

Wilberth Flores Coral, representative of Jacobo Arzate, president of the Sports Commission in Quintana Roo and Rafael Orozco, president of the Quintana Roo Badminton Association, also attended.

In this edition of the tournament, a well-deserved tribute was paid to Gabriel Aguiñaga Correa, Federated Sports Coordinator of the Sports Institute, who has been a key figure in promoting this discipline in the state. During the opening ceremony, he was recognized for his outstanding work in the development of badminton in Quintana Roo, which is why this year the tournament bears his name.

The Cancún 2024 badminton tournament promises intense competition, promoting coexistence and sports growth in the region, with the aim of continuing to position Cancún as a national sports benchmark.
