Casemiro, 32, is not known as a great goalscorer.
But in the league cup against Leicester, the brass stepped up with a dream goal from 30 meters.
The 32-year-old pushed Manchester United through to the quarter-finals.
Manchester United stepped out on Sunday evening at Old Trafford for the first time after Erik ten Hag’s departure.
Instead, it was compatriot Ruud van Nistelrooy who led the team in the league cup, the Carabao Cup, against Leicester.
And he got a dream start as a manager.
Not a great scorer
He got to see the brass Casemiro thunder in 1-0 from about 30 meters after a quarter. The 32-year-old received a pass from Alejandro Garnacho, received the ball and kicked it away.
The midfielder is not known as a great goalscorer, but has now scored two games in a row.
Moments later, Garnacho made it 2–0.
This was a real goal party. At the break it was 4-2 after Casemiro accounted for another full hit. In the end it was 5-2.
Victor Lindelöf played the entire match in defence.
