Champions League: Real Madrid turns game against Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund met after the Champions League final at Wembley in June Real Madrid again on the record winner of the competition. Real won the final 2-0, although Dortmund dominated the game for a long time and this time too, Dortmund dominated the game at times. After impressive goals from Donyell Malen in the 30th minute and Jamie Gittens in the 34th minute, they even went into halftime with a 2-0 lead. In the second half, Real managed to equalize after goals from Antonio Rüdiger in the 60th minute and shortly afterwards from Vinícius Júnior in the 62nd minute.

Dortmund took control of the game in the first half. Malen was able to score Dortmund’s first opening goal after Serhou Guirassy kept track of things in the penalty area and scored under pressure. When it was 2-0, it was Malen who put Gittens in the penalty area.

While the first half went to the guests from Dortmund, the game shifted significantly in favor of the home team in the second half. With relatively even possession of the ball, Dortmund decided first and then Madrid the gameplay. Rüdiger scored the next goal with a header and Júnior scored the equalizer with a goal.

In the final phase, Real turned the game around completely. In the 83rd minute, Lucas Vázquez scored after he moved into the penalty area and shot into the near corner. Three minutes later Júnior increased the score to 4:2. In the third minute of added time it was even 5:2.
