Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß gave a short speech before the game against Juventus about his admiration for the Italian coaching school. People have long been used to this in southern Europe: for decades, coaches of visiting teams have been reporting on their trips to Italy about their love for venerable gentlemen such as Arrigo Sacchi, Marcello Lippi, and sometimes even Giovanni Trapattoni, although the latter hardly receives any praise from his former workplaces in Stuttgart and Munich . However, Hoeneß impressed the Italians because he left history behind in his homage. He once again confessed to being a fan of Roberto De Zerbi, praised Simone Inzaghi’s “great job” at Inter Milan and said that he recognized similarities to his VfB at Thiago Motta’s FC Bologna last season.
