Chosen for Premier 12

The 28 players who will face Panama in the Premier 12 competition were revealed yesterday by the Panamanian Baseball Federation.

The selection, which also includes his coaching staff, was presented by manager José Mayorga and includes players with experience in the Major Leagues (MLB), others from the Minor Leagues and several who have seen action in national championships.

It will be the first time that Panama participates in the top event of the World Baseball & Softball Confederation (WBSC), which brings together the best 12 qualified countries in its Ranking at the end of 2023.

The ninth channel is in Group A of the tournament, which will play in Guadalajara and Tepic (Mexico) from November 9 to 14, where it will face the United States, Venezuela, the Netherlands and Puerto Rico. Panama opens on November 9 playing against Holland, at the Pan American stadium.

While Group B will face Japan, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Australia, in Nagoya and Taipei City, from November 13 to 18. The best two in each group advance to the Super Round at the Tokyo Dome (November 21-23) and from there, the medal games will be played (November 24).

Panama currently occupies the position in the WBSC Ranking. Japan is No.1.
