Cinisello celebrates its honours: the Golden Spikes were awarded

Cinisello Balsamo celebrates its history, its traditions, the citizens and associations that have distinguished themselves: on Sunday 13 October the 2024 Golden Spighe were awarded, the highest honors awarded every year by the Municipality.

The city honor was introduced in 1987 to celebrate the title of ‘City’ assigned to Cinisello Balsamo on 17 October 1972. The artistic work, in gilded bronze, is the work of the local sculptor Silvano Vismara and is a symbol of industriousness and the commitment with which every citizen contributes to building the Community. This year the Spiga d’Oro Commission considered Vo.Ci., a Cinisello volunteer, worthy of the award; Roberto Renato Veronese and the Cineteatro Pax. Two memorial plaques dedicated to the figures of Davide Viganò and Renato Seregni are then added.

«We celebrated the Spiga d’Oro, the honor that for 34 years has embodied the fundamental values of our community: passion, dedication and generosity – explained the mayor Giacomo Ghilardi -. In an increasingly fragmented world, recognizing those who contribute to the social and cultural growth of our city is an act of trust in the future. The people and organizations awarded today remind us that, only by uniting our stories and commitments, can we build a strong and cohesive social fabric: an ego that becomes us. The thread that unites all these experiences is empathy, the ability to put ourselves in the other person’s shoes, to listen and act with attention and care towards those around us. It is through this spirit of collaboration and solidarity that we can truly strengthen and enrich our social fabric. Every gesture, every action done from the heart becomes part of a larger mosaic, a tangible sign of a community that looks forward, but which never forgets the value of reciprocity and inclusion. Let us therefore continue to weave together this precious thread, made of attention and respect.”
