The Coahuila delegation had an outstanding performance in the traditional national judo tournament “Profesor Daniel F. Hernández” held in Morelia, Michoacán, where they won a total of five medals.

Gerardo Daniel Campa Reyes won the gold medal in the 31 kilogram division in the Baby category; while Camila Lucie Mata García won the gold medal in the Pre-Children category, in the 33 kilos, with athletes who are beginning their athletic career, under equal conditions.
For her part, Érica Judith López Muñoz had an outstanding performance in this national tournament after climbing to the top of the podium in the Under 15 category within the 64 kilogram division.
Finally, Hania Alejandra López Muñoz stood out by winning two medals in this competition: silver in the Under 18 category and bronze in the Under 21 category, in the +70 and +78 kilogram divisions.
It should be noted that during this contest, the Mexican Judo Federation awarded the 4th Dan degree to Marcos Mata Mier, a coach from Coahuila who guides the state’s judokas.
During recent years, Coahuila has experienced significant growth within this sporting discipline, which gained tremendous momentum at the national level, thanks to the conquest of the Olympic silver medal by the Mexican Prisca Awiti, who today , is the image of judo at the national level.
