Come on Cantù, Cento can’t scare you

Revolving doors at Cantù Basketball: for a player returning after an injury (Baldi Rossi), another raises the white flag for a good month (McGee). A condition which, in these last four seasons in A2, has been practically a constant for the team. The theme therefore arises again today against Cento and, obviously, also for the next matches, with coach Nicola Brienza who will therefore have to remodel the team in light of the changes – albeit minimal – in the roster.

But the nine players – plus the young Beltrami – who in the late afternoon, with a tap-off at 6pm at the PalaFitLine in Desio, will certainly be ready to continue the winning streak of five successes which has characterized this first phase of the championship and which has pushed Cantù up, to the top of the rankings, after the handicap start following the defeat in Orzinuovi.

A diametrically opposite path, however, for the opponents: Cento won the first match against Livorno, but lost all the next five matches in the series. The Emilians’ ranking is crying: 2 points.

There are not many doubts about what the challenge within the challenge will be, entirely internal to S.Bernardo: reviewing the balance and the most effective solutions in light of the return of Baldi Rossi (33 years old yesterday), a very important return in terms of experience and for the rotations of the big men, but also taking into due consideration the loss of McGee.

Because you can say anything, but it’s like taking away a bomber jacket from a football team. And McGee, in addition to scoring many points, is also a man of defense, leadership and energy. In short, it can be replaced, because probably no one is indispensable, but without a doubt the loss is major and no one discusses it.
