The Loumen Tunnel is located in Dashaxi Village, Shaxi Township, Lichuan City. It has a total length of 3,387 meters and a maximum burial depth of approximately 346 meters. The large cave dug this time stretches for more than 300 meters and is similar to the size of a standard football field. According to observations, the cave is in a honeycomb shape and is divided into three layers: upper, middle and lower. The Lixian Expressway runs through the middle layer of the cave. Currently, builders are carrying out critical construction work. The geological structure of the western Hubei project group is extremely complex and is called a “civil engineering forbidden area” by the engineering community. Some complex tunnel projects are even called “world-class difficult projects.” The Hefeng section of the Yilai Expressway built by Hubei Communications Investment Group has been completed this year.
