In Sarthe, on the territory of the 4CPS, the hot topic of recent months is the project to build a dojo on the lands of Domfront-en-Champagnea stone’s throw from Conlie.
While this sports infrastructure does not make everyone happy, Hugues Bombled, vice-president in charge of the cultural and sports equipment commission at the 4CPS and mayor of Rouessé-Vasséwanted to give his point of view on this long-term project: “I am not here to make controversy. This doesn’t move things forward. I am here to provide facts. »
Failed initial requests
At the source of this project, at the beginning of 2020, a seminar was held “where all the members of the 4CPS were able to put forward an objective to be achieved during their mandate”. In the sporting field, it has been stated that “ the creation of collective sports equipment would be useful ».
A study was launched in the region. During this, the Conlie judo club, now called the 4CPS Judo club, asked the 4CPS to “build a room next to the André Pioger gymnasium”, in Conlie. An idea quickly abandoned. “We do not have the competence in this part of the field and there is a parking problemalso,” specifies Hugues Bombled. Exit the dojo and logically, the gymnasium.
In Conlie “no investment” for the dojo
The same judo club subsequently “asked the municipality of Conlie to consider a potential extension of the current dojo”. “ There hasn’t even been a study done », Explains the vice-president in charge of the cultural and sports equipment commission.
“On this subject, Michel Patry, vice-president of the 4CPS responsible for monitoring and maintenance of buildings and works, and I spoke with Christian Lemasson, mayor of Conlie. It was clear that his municipality is not considering any investment in the current building, and even less the possibility of building a dojo adapted to the needs of this club. lack of sufficient budget», insiste Bombled.
Gérard Galpin: “The 24 mayors of the 4CPS must vote”
Gérard Galpin, mayor of Sillé, vice-president of the 4CPS and departmental councilor, is in favor of an extension of the current Conlie gymnasium. “I think that the Conlie judo club must have a room to evolve. We all agree on this observation. The town hall of Conlie should have taken a position a long time ago, which it has not done. It is not up to the 4CPS to build this gym in Conlie or Domfront. On the other hand, the idea of expanding the current gymnasium in Conlie is the ideal solution to resolve the lack of space from which judo, but also others, suffer. conlinoise associations. An extension of the current gymnasium falls within the competence of the 4CPS.
A feasibility study for a dojo in Domfront was recently launched following a favorable vote to this effect. The study will already give an idea of its cost. The question remains who will subsidize the dojo? And who will pay for the travel of judokas from Conlie to Domfront while we are trying almost everywhere to limit travel. Parents might put their hand in their pocket. This subject deserves to be put on the table before any construction. In any case, the 4CPS should not obtain a subsidy from the Department of Sarthe for a dojo in Domfront. On the other hand, the Departmental Council could financially support the expansion of the Conlie gymnasium since it will see a particular interest in it for the André-Pioger college.
I believe that we must let the feasibility studies of the dojo in Domfront be completed and then make a decision, with supporting figures. The 4CPS has 24 municipalities, it is essential that the 24 mayors, without exception, express themselves on the project. And we must respect the majority choice.”
The Domfront-en-Champagne option
Wanting to have a brand new dojo, the judo club once again requested the 4CPS: “The club gave us a clear and precise presentation of what it wanted. While adding that relocation was not a problem for them . Which was not the case with the basketball club, for example. From there, the option of Domfront-en-Champagne was possible, because we have land there. »
Based on this observation, “the sports commission proposed launching a preliminary study” in February 2024. This was voted on during the community council last June:13 votes for, 12 votes against and one abstention.
Currently, “we are awaiting the architect’s study and a choice will be made in the coming weeks.” “ For the 4CPS sports commission, the priority is the dojo in Domfront.I think that the multi-sport gymnasium in Dromfront, mentioned a few years ago, should be forgotten,” confides Hugues Bombled.
“I’m pissed”
“I’m angry at the scale this project is taking. The Conlie sports commission is giving a lot of energy to slow everything down. She was present at all the sports commissions. During one of our meetings, she stated thatthe project was coherentbut that she found it highly regrettable that the Community of Communes was not studying the two sports projects at the same time (dojo in Domfront and multisports hall in Conlie). Why move heaven and earth now? », questions Hugues Bombled.
He continues: “Conlie does not wish to carry out sporting projects. The priority for them is the school group. From that moment on, the 4CPS cannot intervene in areas where it does not have the competence. »
A dojo not just for judo?
Important information provided by Hugues Bombled, the dojo which should see the light of day in Domfront, will not be used “only by the judo club, which agrees with this”.
“In the project, it is planned to host other sports activities. There might even be another small room…”
