Cruzeiro is champion of the Men’s Volleyball Super Cup! This Friday (18/10), Raposa beat Sesi Bauru by 3 sets to 1 (25/18, 25/27, 25/17 and 25/18), at Castelinho, in São Luís, and won the title of the tournament that brings together the winners of the Copa Brasil and the Superliga for the sixth time in history.

Not bad for the start of the season. In less than a week, Cruzeiro won the Campeonato Mineiro title, against Minas, and the Supercup. Now, turn your attention to the Superliga. The Cruzeirenses debut in the main national tournament this Thursday (10/24), at 9:30 pm, against Praia Clube, at the Uberlândia City Hall Training Center.

Sesi Bauru, in turn, competed, in addition to the Super Cup, in the Campeonato Paulista and stopped in the quarterfinals, when they fell to Suzano, current runner-up. The São Paulo team is also thinking about the Superliga. The first game is scheduled for this Wednesday (10/23), starting at 6:30 pm, against Neurologia Ativa, at Arena Paulo Skaf.

Raposa started the match against Sesi Bauru in the best way possible: they mastered the fundamentals and ran over the first set. Then, the spell turned against the sorcerer, and Cruzeiro suffered a draw. In the third set, he controlled again and had no difficulty in winning. The São Paulo team even showed a reaction in the last half, but were unable to stop the miners.

Cruzeiro, which was already the biggest winner of the Supecopa, rose even further in the title ranking. Present in all the finals of the competition, he has accumulated six achievements (2015, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2022 and 2024). Just below is Taubaté, with two titles (2019 and 2020). Sesi Bauru (2018) and São José (2023) complete the list.

At the end of the match, midfielder Douglas Souza, recently arrived, received the best of the match award. He warned: “It’s just the beginning of the season. In a little while we will be playing in the Superliga”.

With my arrival and that of Brasília, I believe that our team has become more homogeneous. Everyone has more fun on the court. I don’t know. But it’s working, I know it’s working. And the team that wins doesn’t move. Second title in less than a week. I am very happy and grateful

Sesi Bauru coach, Anderson Rodrigues entered with Thiaguinho, Darlan, Lukas Bergmann, Éder, Barreto and Pureza. Filipe Ferraz, Cruzeiro commander, climbed Brasília, Wallace, Douglas Souza, Lucão, Rodriguinho, Cledenilson and Alê Elias.

Cruzeiro was not aware of Sesi Bauru in the first half. Superior in all fundamentals, with emphasis on the passages on serve, he ran over and won by 25 a 18. The Cruzeirenses’ main target was striker Lukas Bergmann – no wonder Anderson Rodrigues replaced him with Luiz Fernando.

The scenario changed completely at the beginning of the second set. Sesi took the lead on the scoreboard, led mainly by a good performance from Darlan. However, Cruzeiro was not ‘dead’. He reduced the disadvantage and pulled over. At that point, Filipe Ferraz resorted to inversion and called Openkoski and Rodrigo. It had an effect, to a certain extent. Back in the starting line-up, they didn’t allow their opponents to close the half twice. However, he wasted two serves at crucial moments and, in Rodriguinho’s invasion, saw the São Paulo side close by 27 a 25.

The teams balanced their actions at the beginning of the third half. But the balance was short-lived. Soon, Cruzeiro opened a comfortable lead and had no difficulty managing it. With a simple block, Rodriguinho gave Raposa the victory: 25 a 17.

Cruzeiro turned the fourth half into the last, with a design similar to the previous one: balance at the beginning and celestial dominance from the middle to the end. In a short time, another partial won: 25 a 18.
