Cuba defeats France and reaches the final of the Baseball 5 World Cup

Havana, Oct 11.- The Cuban team brought out its best hitting and beat France today 2-0 (KO of 17×2 and 11×3) in the last duel of the super round, in the II Baseball World Cup5 of Hong Kong 2024.

In this dance against the Gauls on the court installed in the Bauhinia Court, there was a highlight in the first set for the second baseman of the exponent monarchs, Cristian Basabe from Artemis, who with his powerful hitting went 4-for-4, with five RBIs.

Basabe took advantage of the fact that between the capital duo of Orlando Amador and captain Briandy Molina, their predecessors in the lineup, they hit 10 hits.

Meanwhile, Guantanamo debutant Yiliena Otamendez, with five singles and the same number of RBIs, led the offensive in the second set. Molina, 6-5, and Amador, 6-4, with three RBIs, also showed their faces in the attack.

This Saturday, the team of capital coach Pablo Terry will try to retain the title achieved in the first edition of Mexico 2022, once again having Japan as a rival.

In the current edition, the Caribbean made an excellent comeback and beat the Japanese 2-1 in the super round.

So far, Cuba is undefeated (7-0) with successes against Lithuania, South Africa, Venezuela, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico and France.
