Cuba seeks to remain undefeated at the Caribbean Baseball Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 25 (ACN) Cuban baseball team, made up of young talents, will face the United States Virgin Islands today at the Andre Rodgers stadium in the third day of the 6th Caribbean Cup held in Nassau, Bahamas.

The team led by Alexander Urquiola, current champions of the tournament, will seek to maintain their undefeated record after beating Saint Martin (8-0) and the Dominican Republic (8-2).

On Thursday, they achieved an important victory against the Dominicans, champions of the first two editions, with a production of 10 hits, where Yuliesky Remon stood out again with a single, triple and four RBIs.

The six pitcher have performed at a high level, especially starters Albert Valladares and Jose Ignacio Bermudez, the latter with 10 strikeouts in five innings.

Their rivals today pulled off a surprise victory yesterday by beating Curacao, the 2021 champion and last year’s finalist, 4-3.

The standings show Cuba at the top with a 2-0 record, followed by the Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Saint Martin and Curacao, all with a 1-1 record, and the Dominican Republic 0-2.

According to the competition schedule, the two best-placed teams after the qualifying round will compete for the gold medal, and the third and fourth place teams will face each other for the bronze.
