The Cowboys rank last in rushing yards, yards per carry and rushing touchdowns. They are the only team in the NFL without a rush of more than 20 yards. To say they need a running back is an understatement. The lack of a running game is affecting the entire offense as other teams only have to worry about the passing game.

As presented, the Dallas Cowboys are looking for a running back and, although the market does not offer much, incorporating a new player could mean a leap in quality to a roster that currently only has Ezekiel Elliott y Rico Dowdle (plus Dalvin Cook on the practice squad).
James Conner
James Conner is a two-time Pro Bowl selection and signed a three-year, $21 million contract with the Cardinals ahead of the 2022 season. Given his age (29), the Cardinals’ record (3-4) and his contract situation, the team could trade him. Colton Edwards, from FanSidedalso approves of this move.
“The Cardinals lack the offensive firepower necessary to compete for a Playoff berth. With the addition of Trey Benson in the draft, they could consider trading Conner as they continue to rebuild. Conner will be a free agent after 2024 and it makes sense for the team to move forward. without him”Edwards wrote.
Conner is in his eighth season in the NFL and his production remains in good numbers: he has accumulated 504 yards on 109 carries, with an average of 4.6 per attempt. Added to these numbers are three TDs: he scored against the Buffalo Bills, the Los Angeles Rams and the Washington Commanders.
Travis Etienne Jr.
Bradley Locker, from Pro Football Focusprepared a list of proposals for “dream trades” and linked the Dallas Cowboys to the star running back of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Travis Etienne Jr.
“The Jaguars have been one of the most perplexing teams in the NFL over the past two years, and it appears things have come to a head under Doug Pederson. What should be a caliber team with Playoff aspirations is now a disjointed team, and that likely means pieces will move. Jacksonville has seen Tank Bigsby explode in the running game, so Etienne could be expendable,” Locker said.
Dallas needs a running back and Etienne Jr. is in just his third NFL season, having surpassed 1,000 yards in each of his first two. Why not consider an exchange despite your present? Travis only has 230 yards and two TDs on 56 carries.

Khalil Herbert
Minnesota Vikings looked to add a running back before the trade deadline and one of the options to consider was Khalil Herbertwho is not a priority in the Chicago Bears. However, the franchises did not reach an agreement and the Vikings ended up releasing Cam Akers from the Houston Texans. Dallas Cowboys could try to get it.
According to various reports, the Bears, who have D’Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson, are asking for a fifth round draft pick, which does not seem to be too much of a price for the Texans. Herbert has had at least 400 yards rushing in each of his previous three seasons, with a high of 731 yards in 2022.
