Excellent with the Hawks during this pre-season, Zacharie Risacher is however far from being considered the favorite to become rookie of the year. A surprising snob, especially in a recent survey.
While the season NBA will start shortly, we will have a lot of fun following the young French people. We obviously think of Victor Wembanyama as leader, but there is also Bilal Coulibaly, Alex Sarr and Zaccharie Risacher, number 1 in the last draft. Issue ? The latter is far from being unanimous until now.
Despite interesting potential and a good pre-season with the HawksRisacher is not expected to win the ROTY title, one year after Wembanyama. It’s not us who think so, but rather 4 personalities in the world of the NBA (managers and assistant coaches), who were questioned by journalist Mark Medina in a recent survey.
Zaccharie Risacher snubbed again
If Alex Sarr is not considered the favorite because of his offensive play, it is Reed Sheppard who should win according to them.
Leader number 1 : “Reed Sheppard will probably have enough minutes to win rookie of the year. My other pick is Stephon Castle. Alex Sarr will have plenty of minutes to show off his defense and versatility, but that doesn’t win ROTY. »
Leader number 2 : “Reed Sheppard. He may not have the best career, but he will have the best chance for rookie of the year. He knows how to shoot, he knows how to play. He is a young player who will become even better. »
Assistant coach number 1 : “It’s going to be difficult for Sarr. At the moment, he’s just a defender. Reed Sheppard has his chance. He is the most complete and polished player currently. He can shoot and he can play, so he seems to have an advantage. »
Assistant coach number 2 : “I really need to think about this. I don’t want to try to tackle any player. There is no real favorite. »
The truth is that there is no favorite. Sheppard is certainly a player to follow, he who is the best shooter of the vintage, while Sarr risks getting stuck with his offensive game. Can Zach Edey make the difference for the Grizzlies to claim the title? Possible. What remains surprising and shocking is that no one yet cites Risacher despite its number 1 status.
Number 1 in the draft or not, Zacharie Risacher is not considered by many as a candidate for rookie of the year. A real surprise when we see his talent, so let’s hope that the Frenchman destroys everything on the floors this season.
