Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh is all set to host the Yonex-Sunrise All India sub-junior ranking badminton tournament at the Multipurpose Indoor Stadium from Friday. The U-13 tourney will feature 354 youngsters from 26 states and will conclude October 30.
Under the aegis of the Assam Badminton Association and the Badminton Association of Indiathe tournament is organized by Dibrugarh District Sports Association (DDSA) and carries a prize purse of Rs 3 lakh.The event will be held in four different categories — boys singles, girls singles, boys doubles and girls doubles.
“This tournament marks a historic moment for Dibrugarh as we step onto the national badminton stage. It’s an opportunity for the youngsters to compete at such a high level,” said Rituparna Baruah, chairman of the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and president of the organising committee.
