Diego Forlan will play doubles Uruguay OpenATP Challenger tournament, with the Argentine Federico Coria. The former soccer player will have his first big challenge in professional tennis, a sport he has officially practiced since he retired.

Cachavacha will be one of the big stars of the Challenger: the left-handed player (he was right-handed when he played soccer) will share a pair with the number 78 in the ATP ranking.
In 2024, Forlán competed in several +40 tournaments in Montevideo and won in doubles with Alberto Brause at the MT 1000 in Limaby the ITF World Tennis Masters Tour. In the publication of the Uruguay Open, Coria defined the couple as “the duo of the year”.
On his social networks, the Uruguayan shared the announcement of his participation in the tournament, giving an account of the expectations he has. “Yes, our number 10 is also killing it in tennis!”the organizers highlighted.
The ATP Challenger Tour is a group of valid championships of the Professional Tennis Association (ATP). They are part of the second step in hierarchy: the first is the ATP World Tour.
