MEven though it has been greatly reduced, the Adour Dax remains strong. He showed it this Saturday in his Palais des sports by gradually but surely dominating Montaigu-Vendée (82-65). A solid victory that sends a big message to his future opponents.
Decimated inside – Tanguy Ramassamy (shoulder), Mathis Rostomoff (partial rupture of the crusaders) and Julien Gardesse (out with a blow to the hip) – and deprived of its rear Corentin Carne, the ADB made up for this deficit with its values that make up its identity: heart and solidarity. “I’m happy. It’s a great team victory. I see the team I want to see. I tell myself that if we manage to recover injured people, it will be even better,” relishes Jean-Baptiste Oyhanondo, the Candressois coach.
At first glance, the evening looks complicated. At the start of the match, the Landais clearly showed a significant deficit. Especially since the exit of Julien Gardesse in the 3rd minute does not make their already disrupted game plan any easier. The Vendéens got into their game well and quickly took control of the score (9-14, 6th, then 14-18, 8th). But the Adebist rearguard does not intend to let itself be dominated on its lands. Cédric Mansaré gets everyone to agree on a triple almost at the buzzer of the first 10 minutes. Nobody knows it yet, but this shot was decisive in the turning point of the match. The ADB is taking the lead and will never let itself be caught up again.
Defensive leader
The collective won. But the offensive success made the difference. The team made in Candress – the Dulouat siblings, Benjamin Lifermann and Théo Lespiau – showcased their talent: 11 successful 3-point baskets to pass the 80-point mark. And thus confirms his renewed success seen last week in Niort. “Afterwards, it’s clear that with a dominated squad, everyone has to take a little more responsibility in attack,” admits Benjamin Lifermann, author of 14 points.
In defense, the ADB confirmed its status as defensive leader of the group. “We come out of this first block of matches with a record of four wins and one loss. It could have been better but it’s already very good,” confides the coach. The ranking attests to this. Adour Dax is leader of the group on the evening of this 5th day. Something to reassure yourself before their 1/16th final of the Coupe des Landes against ASCH. “It’s the best preparation. Now we’re stopping the championship and going to war,” says Lifermann.
