Doc Rivers, exposed to criticism by his own decision

<a href="https://www.archysport.com/2022/01/in-two-stages-philadelphia-outclasses-miami-nba/" title="In two stages, Philadelphia outclasses Miami | NBA“>Doc Rivers is an NBA figure who leaves no one indifferent. For years, and although he was initially considered one of the best coaches in the League after winning the 2008 ring with the Boston Celtics, his work is in question when it is understood that despite having had very good squads, he has been unable to return to the Finals. Now, as head coach of the Bucks, clarifies that it has always been his own decision to be exposed to criticism in this way.

«If you look at my career since I left Boston, I have intentionally put myself in positions where it was win or fail, knowing that in many cases, if we fail, it would be my fault. But if I have learned anything from my career with Boston and the time I was a coach there, it is that I prefer to see myself in that situation than ‘well, we can be fifth in the conference if some things smile at us,'” he tells The Athletic.

Rivers may be partly right, but the criticism has been far from unfounded in many cases. In the Clippers he enjoyed the best squad they have had in their history with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin at full capacity. Later he had Joel Embiid and Ben Simmos in Philadelphia and now he trains Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard in Milwaukee… The scenarios have been practically idyllic for a coach.
