CISM Stangherlin” width=”300″ height=”546″ style=”margin: 8px; float: left;”/>With six medals, one gold and five bronze, it was a great day for Italy Tashkenton the second day of CISMthe world championships of military sports.

Giorgia Stangherlin won the world title in the 70 kg, while Linda Politi in the 78 kg, Erica Simonetti in the +78 kg, Giacomo Gamba in the 81 kg, Tiziano Falcone in the 90 k, and Enrico Bergamelli in the 100kg.

And tomorrow team competition…

“I am extremely proud of these guys – he said Luigi Guido– everyone had a wonderful race, an excellent performance in a complicated, difficult race, full of athletes of a certain level. They were all really good, applause to everyone, especially to Giorgia Stangherlin who won in this new category, beating an expert athlete like Anka Pogacnik in the final. He won the match by a landslide, three penalties, but really very well, fighting well. Just like the others, even when they lost a match they always fought very well and when they fight well I am very happy. I hope to repeat today’s performance in the team competition tomorrow and finally I offer my heartfelt congratulations, also accompanied by a bit of emotion, to Linda Politi who today was her last race”.

“I come from months of major changes, from the weight category, to the person and athlete I have become. -is the comment of Giorgia Stangherlin– I made choices in a difficult moment, I had no certainties, I had no feedback, I only trusted what I felt. It’s my second race in the new category, I needed certainty not from the medal, but from what I felt on the tatami. And I must say that I am calm and happy with what I heard today. I thank the Carabinieri sports center for the opportunity, Luigi Guido who followed me to the chair today and Matteo Marconcini who works with me every day and who unfortunately could not be here today, I dedicate part of this medal to him”. 20241017 Tashkent CISM Politi 2

“Today was an emotional day,” he said Linda Police– mutual decision between me and the Arma technical staff who have been following me for 9 years, this was the last race of my career (then in reality tomorrow there will be the team race… But in short it was individual today) . I am happy to have achieved this medal, even if I would have liked to have done better in the semi-final. Happy with the experience I had, I thank all the people who helped me along this path and who were close to me.”

“I’m happy with the sensations I’m feeling in general… pre-competition, competition, post-competition, in short with the way I’m experiencing this beautiful journey of judo, of life. -are the words of Giacomo Gamba– I want to enjoy this adventure! We’ll see what happens, now I just want to have fun doing the sport I love. Thanks to everyone who lives with me, these people help me best express who I am. It’s a team game. Thanks to the Carabinieri sports center, I am happy to have brought him this medal at the military world championship.”

“I’m happy for today’s medal – he said Erica Simonetti– shame about the semi-final. There is still a lot to work on. I thank the Army Sports Center, which gave me the opportunity to be here today, the Akiyama family, Nicholas Mungai, who followed me in the race today and my mother, who always cheers from home.”

“The race didn’t start in the best way – he said Tiziano Falcone– having lost in the first round, but I reacted with great character and got to the bronze medal. The atmosphere in the arena was something magical. I thank the Fiamme Gialle Sports Group. I dedicate this medal to my cousin Nicholas.”

“The military world championship is definitely a different experience from the races I’m used to,” he said Enrico Bergamelli– but equally stimulating, seeing all those soldiers there to watch the race is a new emotion. Shaking is normal and luckily I had a bit of it once on the tatami it all went away. I felt that in every match I put my heart into it, I gave my all until the end and this definitely paid off. I thank my family, the Carabinieri Sports Center and my friends.”
