Drug hidden in sock, 39-year-old arrested by police after chase

He was driving a Smart Fortwo coupé from a rental company when, in Via Lovara di Casagiove, at the sight of the Carabinieri patrol, he attempted to escape. Pursued and blocked, he was then subjected to a personal and vehicular search following which he was found in possession of cocaine and crack, as well as material for packaging the doses and cash. A 39-year-old man ended up in handcuffs, already subject to the obligation to stay and report to the judicial police.

During the search, hidden inside the sock of the man’s right leg, the police found a cellophane wrapper containing 0.96 grams of cocaine while, inside the coin purse placed in the glove compartment of the car, five wrappers containing 0.40, 0.32, 0.45, 0.31 and 0.36 grams of cocaine and crack respectively. Inside the vehicle, resting on the passenger side mat, a wooden baseball bat 61.5 centimeters long and 4.5 centimeters in diameter was also found and seized.

The search also extended to his home and allowed the discovery and seizure of a further four doses of cocaine weighing 2.13 grams and two doses of crack weighing 0.67 grams, as well as material for packaging the narcotic. The sum of €75 believed to be the proceeds of illicit activity was also seized.
