(Reporter Lee Chang-gyu, Xports News) It was later revealed that BTS‘ Jungkook was able to perform on stage at the Super Bowl halftime show, the final of the National Football League (NFL), but was unable to do so due to military enlistment.
On the 7th (local time), The New Yorker reported that Jungkook was invited along with Usher, who was the headliner at the 94th Super Bowl Halftime Show held in February, but it was canceled due to his military service.
Jungkook collaborated with Usher on a remix version of the title song ‘Standing Next To You’ from his first solo album.
The NFL, one of the four major sports leagues in North America, is the sports league most loved by Americans, and the Super Bowl Halftime Show is a performance held during the break after the second quarter of the Super Bowl.
The Super Bowl Halftime Show, which started in 1967, has featured contemporary artists such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, N’Sync, U2, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Prince, Madonna, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Rihanna. It has grown into a stage where the best singers perform.
Since no K-pop artist has performed at the halftime show yet, fans are expressing disappointment that Jungkook’s halftime show performance was cancelled. As Jungkook enlisted in December of last year, if he had delayed his enlistment by just 2 months, we would have been able to see him perform on stage with Usher.
Previously, Jungkook received attention from people around the world by singing the official theme song ‘Dreamers’ on the stage of the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
