The Netherlands has broken the record for the largest victory. In a practice match in Doetinchem, Indonesia was defeated 15-0 on Friday evening.

The biggest victory of the Dutch women’s team was twelve goals difference. That margin was achieved for the first time in a match against Israel in 1977 (12-0). The record was equaled in 2009 against North Macedonia (13-1) and in 2022 against Cyprus (12-0).

The Indonesian national team is still in its infancy. To gain experience, the women make trips abroad. Last Thursday they played a match against ADO Den Haag. That was also lost by a big margin: 1-12.

Two debutants

National coach Andries Jonker had made room for two debutants in his starting eleven: Nina Nijstad and Lotte Keukelaar. Jill Roord made her return to the Dutch team. At the end of December she seriously injured her knee, which was followed by surgery and a long rehabilitation process.

From the first whistle, the match mainly took place in Indonesia’s half. The Netherlands had the ball by far the most and had many chances, but initially had difficulty taking advantage of those opportunities.

The Indonesian Laita Masykuroh distinguished herself several times with great saves. Nevertheless, Jonker’s team gained momentum and went into halftime with a 6-0 lead. Leuchter scored twice, Roord was accurate on her return, Sherida Spitse converted a penalty and Keukelaar immediately scored a goal on her debut.

In the second half, it took the Netherlands less time to find the net. Roord quickly made it 7-0, her second of the evening. Keukelaar was also accurate again after the break. It was also a great debut for Nijstad. She made it 9-0 with her head and 12-0 with her foot.

The record was set at 13-0, which was scored by substitute Renate Jansen. But the Orange’s attacking spirit did not stop there. Katja Snoeijs, who replaced Jill Roord at halftime, also scored a goal. Jansen even managed to score a hat-trick in her half-hour substitute appearance.

There is another practice match on the program for the Orange Women on Tuesday. Then Denmark is the opponent. That match will be played in Esbjerg, Denmark and starts at 6 p.m.
