Enraged Czech football players fought for the referee. There was also an attack

The end of the match of the lower Czech competition was very heated. Football went by the wayside, it was more like swearing. There was even an attack on the referee.

It looked like a fairly quiet match. But what happened at the end of the Českobudějovicka fourth grade match between Hrdějovice B and Horní Stropnice was over the edge. The visiting officials, together with the players, tackled the trio of referees and there was also a physical attack one of them. The match was ended prematurely at 2:1 and all the referees had to lock themselves in the cabins in front of the furious attackers.

A seventeen-year-old referee was attacked

It all started in the 69th minute by visiting assistant coach Jaromír Baierling, who insulted the head referee in an indiscriminate manner. He rightly saw a red card. But he didn’t bother with that he didn’t even want to leave the tech zone. He did not stop with the threats directed at the main referee. The worst came at the very end, when the only seventeen-year-old referee Daniel Kočí awarded the visiting players three red cards and ended the match prematurely.

Červená was seen by Kristyán Maršálek, Josef Holej and Václav Trojan. The latter even attacked the referee. According to the Diary, the minutes of the match literally stated: “Gross unsportsmanlike conduct. In the final skirmish after a no-whistle situation. Physically assaulting the referee during a fight (pushing the referee with both hands).”

An exemplary punishment awaits the guilty

“It’s a very sad and shocking thing. Speaking for the entire executive committee, I believe that this is a deterrent case and I believe that the disciplinary committee will take a similar position on it and those concerned will be punished in an exemplary manner,” said the chairman of the České Budějovice District Football Association, Libor Šolc, adding in one breath: “Just as players make mistakes on the pitch, referees can make them too. Especially at this level. What happened is absolutely beyond the pale.”

The main referee of the match also had his say. “I read in the discussions that it can also be a criminal complaint and the like. I take it that it’s football, a low competition. I’m not the type of person to deal with it much. I have to write it in the record, as it should be. If I didn’t, I would lose respect,” Kočí told iDnesu, which the incident did not mark. On the contrary. “It motivates me. I must not let myself be discouraged from something I enjoy. As I improve, I can move on. It will make me even more resilient.” Kočí added.
