The announcement of the upcoming closure led to a great response and also aroused interest outside the orthopedics and shoe industry. Now an “ideal solution” has been found with the son-in-law of former Federal Councilor Christoph Blocher.
“Such a traditional Swiss company must not be lost,” the new owner Roberto Martullo is quoted as saying in the statement. Künzli accompanied his youth: “I will ensure that the company remains intact for customers, partners and especially the employees,” he promises.
And the previous Künzli owner, Barbara Artmann, was also satisfied in the communiqué: Künzli’s “shoe history” lives on. Künzli SwissSchuh AG has a history that goes back almost 100 years. The company was founded in 1927 by Werner Künzli.
In 1955, his son Kurt Künzli took over the business and developed the company into a popular Swiss sports shoe manufacturer.
