Club Brugge acquired a very good and especially useful striker in Gustaf Nilsson. Behind him are Ferran Jutgla and Romeo Vermant in the pecking order, but both are struggling to really make their mark. Will Blauw-Zwart sign an extra attacker in the winter mercato? CEO Bob Madou spoke out about this in the podcast The Clocks.
Nilsson has become indispensable in a short time. He is already quite important for Club Brugge as a point of contact and also as a declarant and finisher. His absence due to a minor injury already carries some weight. After all, Jutgla and Vermant are not convincing.
Extra striker for Club?
Madou talked about that. “We have three strikers with Nilsson, Jutgla and Vermant. Jutgla was very good in Europe a year ago, but this year he is having a more difficult time. After a certain period it is always quickly said: ‘why didn’t they get an extra player there’? We have tried to find a good balance and everything has to be right in terms of budget. Everyone knows that attackers are not the cheapest profiles. I still assume that our core is good enough to win the title.”
Some Club Brugge fans hope that Club will bring in reinforcements in January. However, Blauw-Zwart has already invested almost 30 million euros and everything must be in order from a budgetary perspective. It doesn’t really look like Club will be recruiting any reinforcements.
Depending on European campaign?
“Can anything be added in January? If everyone is at their level, then we are good enough. If you add someone, others may not be able to progress as well. That is a decision you have to make,” he said. he.
Club Brugge already has a very large core. Blauw-Zwart will also look to progress further in the Champions League at the end of January. If that is not the case, additional reinforcement does not seem necessary for the national champion.
