As recently as Saturday afternoon, Adažni took the last, tenth, position in the tournament table with four points, but after the victory over the Irlava team, they moved up to the seventh place, relegating Liepāja “Kurš” to the last place, who have a long losing streak and who went to Ādaži tonight.
For the third match in a row, “Kurši” played without one of the leaders Patrik Bliska, but this did not prevent them from taking the lead twice in the first period. First, captain Sandis Lövald shot accurately from the right side when only 40 seconds had been played. Kristers Orlovs soon equalized from in front of the goal, but Lövalds made a shot for himself from a good position a minute later, making it 2:1. In the second half of the third period, playing in the numerical majority, Kristers Orlov was accurate from the air from a close distance, and although the Liepaja team tried to prove that the goal was scored illegally, it was counted. On the other hand, in the last minutes of the period, Ralfs Stratans started an attack, which was finished by Niks Nagliņš with an accurate shot, making it 3:2, putting the home team in the lead for the first time in the match.
Liepaja have had statistically tragic results in the second periods of matches this season (2:14 goal ratio before this match) and this time they practically lost the game in the second period as well. Everything started promisingly, when a penalty kick was earned, but Artūrs Lūsēns did not reach the shot at all, the young player was deceived by the technical performance. Less than a minute later, Niks Nagliņš scored his second goal in the match, but at the end of the period, after several sharp duels, Nagliņš single-handedly beat all five players on the field of “Kurši”, convincingly dealing with the goalkeeper Oskars Venckus, completing a hat-trick for himself, but the team achieving a three-goal advantage .
The third period passed in a much calmer fight, as the home team had already done the main work, while the Kurzemen could not develop anything sensible in their attack. In the ninth minute of the period, Rudolph Briedis beat Mihail Kostusev and made it 6:2, but after a 30-second break, the home team quickly scored the seventh goal. A long pass by goalkeeper Emil Sieverts to captain Dēvids Osīts, who quickly played back to Ralfs Celmins and scored a goal. Liepājnieki, playing without a goalkeeper, conceded one goal when Kristaps Oš-Ervics had to put his stick alone in front of the goal, using Tom Peničas’ shot. But then Kostusev “gave” the ball to Stratan, but Celminņš threw his ball into an empty goal from the center of the field – 9:3. At the very end of the match, Miks Naglinņš was also accurate, thus “FBK SĀC/ENFRIHO” won with an unexpectedly convincing 10:3, repeating the most convincing victory of this season, while at the same time jumping to the fifth position in the tournament table.
