A latest report shows at least 95 deaths, less than 48 hours after the start of the devastating floods which occurred during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Widely involved in helping victims, the club led by billionaire Peter Lim joined forces with the Valencia Food Bank and the World Central Kitchen association to provide food to those affected by the natural disaster. The Mestalla stadium was transformed this Thursday into a place for storage and distribution of food and essential products.

The club, which had allowed the postponement of its Copa del Rey match scheduled for Wednesday against Parla Escuela, immediately reacted on its social networks: “Valencia FC wishes to convey its most sincere condolences to the family and friends of those who died due to of storm Dana. Much strength to all neighbors and affected populations and to the groups working on the prevention and consequences of the effects of the storm. The club reiterates that we are available to the authorities and municipalities concerned to provide assistance by any means possible.”

“It’s terrible what happened. I was at home quietly, without doing anything special. I saw that it was raining hard, but I only understood the extent of the damage on social networks. Ultimately, it’s weird but I know as much as you do,” Dimitri Foulquier, club defender, testified this Wednesday morning.

The meeting between Valencia and Real Madrid, scheduled for Saturday evening (9 p.m.) for the 12th day of the Spanish championship, should also be postponed in the coming hours, at the request of the local club.
