Football World Cup 2026: Mexican LGBTQIA fans expect homophobic incidents

Mexican soccer fans LGBTQIA expressed several concerns regarding the homophobia they might face during the international sporting event. And despite various efforts on the part of the Mexican Football Federation and itself FIFA to eliminate homophobic chants in stadiums by pseudo fans, i cases of homophobia in the stadiums they have not decreased.
Just cite as an example the homophobic chants during the friendly match between the national football teams of Mexico and the United States of America in Guadalajara. Episodes that have sparked a lot of indignation and concern among fans and various Mexican LGBTQIA organizations.
FIFA also intervened, fining the Mexican Football Federationalso imposing bans on fans but they were not sufficient to completely eliminate the problem of homophobia in football stadiums.
Currently the organizers of World Cup 2026 are collaborating with the entire Mexican LGBTQIA community to seek a solution that will ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all football fans.
