Morelia, Michoacán, October 15, 2024.- For the first time, Michoacán will host the Professor Daniel F. Hernández National Judo Tournament, from October 17 to 20 at the Morelia Convention and Exhibition Center (Ceconexpo). An event that will count towards the national ranking in the Under-13, Under-15, Under-18, Under-21 and Senior categories.
This was reported at a press conference by authorities of the Michoacán DIF System, State Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (Cecufid), Executive Secretariat, Michoacán AC Judo Association, and the Mexican AC Judo Federation
The general director of the DIF Michoacán System, Óscar Celis Silva, reported that more than 700 judokas from 28 associations in the country will be welcomed.
The honorary president of the Board of Trustees of the DIF Michoacán System, Grisel Tello Pimentel, mentioned that for girls, boys and adolescents in residential care it is an opportunity to show their skills and discipline in judo, in addition to promoting values such as respect, honesty, self-control. , friendship, courtesy, honor, courage and modesty, which will be of great support in their social and integral development.
“We are very excited, this is the result of teamwork, in which more than 700 athletes will be welcomed, who will be showing the best of themselves. In addition to being the venue, what also excites us is that our girls, boys and adolescents who are under our tutelage are going to participate in this tournament, it will be very motivating for them,” shared Tello Pimentel.
For his part, the director of Cecufid, Raúl Morón Vidal, highlighted that, according to UNESCO, “sport is a powerful link for social inclusion, gender equality and the training of young people, with benefits that are “They feel much beyond the stadiums.”
