France Football’s editor-in-chief talks about Real Madrid’s pressure on him

“Editor-in-Chief of France Football: Real Madrid’s pressures have reached the maximum because of my silence.”

Hi Koora: In an interview with L’Equipe, Vincent Garcia, editor-in-chief of France Football, expressed his opinion about Real Madrid’s absence from the Ballon d’Or ceremony, which resonated widely among football fans.

The absence of the Royal Club was the result of their doubts that Vinicius would not win the award, which sparked controversy over the decisions taken.

Garcia explains that Vinicius may have been influenced by the presence of his Real Madrid teammates, such as Jude Bellingham and Dani Carvajal, among the top candidates, as the distribution of votes among the team’s players deprived him of important points.

Garcia said: “This had an effect as a result of the votes being distributed among three to four players from the club, which contributed to Rodri’s superiority.”

Garcia pointed out that Real Madrid tried to put great pressure on him to obtain information about the winner, but he remained neutral and explained that it was clear from the beginning that this year the winner would not be notified in advance.

He added: “My silence may have prompted them to take an extreme position. I was surprised by their absence. We were completely clear about this year’s rules that all clubs agreed to, but it seems that Real Madrid wanted to change them at the last minute.”
