The Tour Saint-Jacques arch company, which trains at the Tallud sports hall, offers the public the opportunity to try this precision sport for free for two sessions before committing.

The association, awakened from its half-sleep in 2012, currently has nearly forty members, young people, adults, men and women.

Training takes place at Tallud: Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. for young people and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for adults, Fridays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturdays. from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Note that the Wednesday slot is planned to welcome disabled sports practitioners.

« Our sport requires concentration and mastery. It is possible to practice as an amateur or a competitor. Some of our members are participating in the French championship, in particular the next so-called Beursault championship which will take place on Sunday October 6, 2024 in Paris », underlines Jean-François Petit, member of the club.

Indoors or outdoors

Archery, an Olympic discipline, is practiced depending on the season either outdoors on 50 m to 70 m shooting ranges, or indoors on 18 meter shooting ranges. “ Be careful, an arrow coming out of the bow can reach a speed of 340 meters per second and can travel several hundred meters. The degree of precision is of the order of a centimeter at a distance of 70 meters. It is a very powerful weapon », underlines the latter.

In addition to the Tour Saint-Jacques archery company, there are currently seven archery clubs in Deux-Sèvres. The price of contributions varies from €56 for children to €100 for adult competitors.
