From chess to volleyball, Piazza Cavalli becomes the “Sports Village”

Piazza Cavalli becomes a “Sports Village”: the event covers seven stages throughout Italy in the name of sport, well-being and social inclusion. The initiative stopped in Piacenza on the morning of Friday 11 October, organized by “Sport senza frontiere” with the support of Conad Centro Nord, the patronage of the Municipality of Piacenza and of “Sport e Salute”. It was able to count on the availability of some local organizations that guided children and young people to discover their respective disciplines: Mio Volley, Club Scacchi Piacenza, Asd Bakery Basket, Judo Club Sakura and Piacenza Rugby Club.

The minute of silence for Simran Kumar

At 10 o’clock, at the same time as what happened in the school classrooms, the activities in the square also stopped and the students, as well as their teachers and representatives of the institutions – the mayor Katia Tarasconi and the councilor for Sport Mario Dadati, alongside the president of “Sport without frontiers” Alessandro Tappa and the board member of Conad Centro Nord Elena Soressi – have observed a moving minute of meditation dedicated to the young Simran Kumar, victim of a tragic accident yesterday, while leaving the Raineri Marcora Institute.

“The sports village on tour is a celebration that was born as a meeting moment around sport, a day dedicated to sporting activity understood as a game, dedicated in particular to children, adolescents and families, but open to everyone. It is a day of promotion of sport and its values, on which Sport Senza Frontiere has built its mission – declares Alessandro Tappa, president of Sport Senza Frontiere -. The objective of the association, which on this occasion organized this tour, is to allow less fortunate children to practice sport, improving their integration, preventing educational poverty and the risk of social exclusion especially in the summer months”.

‘The sports village on tour’ is sponsored by Sport e Salute, a public company that deals with the development of sport in Italy.
