Games without barriers: Paralympic sport in Crotone

On 18 October 2024, starting from 9.00 am, at the Palakro in Crotone, the “Games without Barriers” event will be held, a Paralympic sports day organized by the Italian Paralympic Committee delegation of Crotone and by Inail, with the patronage of Regional School Office and the Municipality of Crotone.

Sport and Disability: A Connection to be Deepened

The event aims to explore the link between sport and disability, raising awareness of accessible sports disciplines in the Crotone area. It is aimed at all sports associations that work with people with disabilities, families, schools and the people themselves.

Paralympic Athletes Protagonists

During the event, Paralympic athletes from the various associations will perform in their sporting disciplines, involving participants in sporting practices. The athletes will also tell how and why they started playing sport, sharing their sensations, experiences and results achieved.

Sports Disciplines and Temporary Installations

The Palakro will be equipped with temporary setups for various sports disciplines such as athletics, judo, sitting volleyball, bowls, physical activity and sailing. The 2024 Italian parasailing champion, Vincenzo Gulino, and other athletes who achieved notable results in last year’s student and Special Olympics championships will be present at the event.

Social Integration and Inclusion

“Games without Barriers” wants to promote and support the integration of people with disabilities into society, through true social inclusion. An unmissable event that demonstrates how sport can be a powerful tool for inclusion and overcoming barriers.
