ELLWANGEN. All good things come in threes: After 2005 and 2023, the Gammertingen baseball players secured the title of Baden-Württemberg cup winners for the third time. At the finals in Ellwangen, the Royals narrowly won 9:8 in an exciting final against Ladenburg Romans.
The Royals started furiously. They led 4-1 after the first inning. Pitcher Christoph Dieminger was supported by the confident defense. By the end of the fourth inning, both teams scored once each. In the fourth and fifth game periods, both teams scored two points each to make it 9:6. But the game wasn’t decided because the opponent reduced the lead to 8:9 in the eighth inning. Now things got exciting. Javier Capote, who was now on the pitcher’s mound for the Royals, was not deterred. With skillful throws he dashed the Romans’ hopes. Christoph Fauler (2), Daniel Bravo, Javier Capote, Christoph Dieminger, Sebastian Dieminger, Daniel Haule, Timo Landenberger and Mai-kel Müller scored for the Royals. (GEA)
