German Men’s and Women’s Championships 2024 in Stuttgart – Judo Association Berlin eV

With the German Championships being moved to autumn, 21 months have passed since the last championships. The year 2024 was an eventful year, after all there were the Olympic Games in Paris in the summer. There were also the European Championships in the spring and the World Championships at the end of May. That means three top events within four months, so you need a little time to regenerate.

Accordingly, our young athletes have the opportunity to draw attention to themselves at the German Championships this weekend. This is also evident in the reports from our regional association. In the women’s category, two u18 fighters registered. Four juniors and six u23 judoka from Berlin will also fight. A total of 10 women and 18 men can be found on the Berlin registration list.

Folger (SF Kladow) up to 63 kg, third last year, Levi Märkt (SC Bushido) up to 73 kg, in 2023 with a fifth place and Vladimir Stark (KK Karow) up to 81 kg want to take part in this after good tournament performances on international mats in Stuttgart continue and fight for the championship medals.

After all, six title winners from last year registered for Stuttgart. Specifically, they are Seija Ballhaus from TSV Großhadern (up to 57 kg). It will be a benchmark for our young fighters Julia Beissenhirtz (KAIZEN Berlin) and Kathrin Karause (PSV Olympia).

Vladimir Stark

The 2023 champion, Giovanna Scoccimarro from MTV Vorsfelde, is on the starting list up to 70 kg.
In the men’s category, Moritz Plafky from JC Hennef (up to 60 kg), David Ickes from Budokan Lübeck (up to 66 kg), and Alexander Gabler from Remscheider Turnverein (up to 73 kg) want to defend their titles. Tim Schmidt from UJKC Potsdam, 2023 champion up to 90 kg, is competing up to 100 kg this year.

It is not independent, but one can speak of a tradition that alongside the Berlin fighters there will also be referees from our regional association on the mats in Stuttgart. Thoma Jüttner, Carolin Opitz as well as René Ressler and Gregor Weiß from Brandenburg are invited to the tournament and will give their best on the mats as referees.
Katharina Marzok, member of the Federal Judges Commission, will be there to help the judges at the edge of the mat.

We wish all of our starters good luck and an injury-free tournament. We always wish our judges good luck. (Photos DEM 2023)
