The passion for sport runs in the family at home Maddaloni: in fact, Marco inherited it from his father Giovanni. In fact, O’ Maé, as he was called, before becoming a judo teacher, was a champion of this sport. Born in Naples on 13 September 1956, Giovanni Maddaloni passed on his great passion for sport to all his children (and not only). But who is Marco Maddaloni‘s father?



First of all, he made his name known in the judo world by also winning the regional champion title in 1978, then he reached the finals of the Italian championships in 1979 and 1980, placing seventh and sixth respectively. A life dedicated to sport and in particular to judo, a martial art, a combat sport, a method of personal defense.



Since 1988 he has undertaken a career as a teacher and technical director of the company Star Judo Club of Scampia where it deals with young talents, but also with social projects, giving many young people a chance. The former judo champion himself, speaking about this discipline, declared that he considers it an inclusive and educational sport, but also underlined the importance of parents in introducing their children to the world of the gym, with particular attention to mothers, who know how to recognize the right path, they understand the value of sport and keep their children away from the wrong role models.

The sudden death of his father forced him to leave school and roll up his sleeves to help the family.

His passion for Bruce Lee’s films pushed him to discover judo by enrolling in a gym in Secondigliano where he met the master Enrico Bubani. It struck him immediately and he fell in love with his way of being, a former traffic policeman who became a second father to him, he said, remembering the teacher.
