Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard won his first ATP title in Lyon

The 21-year-old Frenchman defeated fourth seed Holger Rune 7:6 (6), 6:4 in the second semi-final of the 500 tournament in Basel and is now in the final. There he meets Ben Shelton, who thwarted an all-French final with a 6:3, 7:6 (9) win over Arthur Fils.

Mpetshi Perricard showed a strong performance against Rune – especially on his own serve. He won 87 percent of his points on the first service – and an even stronger 72 percent on the second. And accordingly, he didn’t allow a breakball for Rune.

Mpetshi Perricard’s rise in 2024 continues. A year ago he was still placed outside the top 200, but he is currently at number 36 in the live rankings. And if he were to win the final, he would even crack the top 30.

He won his first ATP title this year in Lyon.
