The mood among Borussia Mönchengladbach supporters is not the best at the moment. Could a contract extension bring the first glimmer of hope?

Mönchengladbach – Borussia Mönchengladbach and presumably Gerardo Seoane will face three key games in the coming weeks. Before that, the club apparently had positive news to announce.

Hack apparently extended his contract early in Gladbach

How Sky Sport reported on Wednesday evening that Robin Hack is about to have his contract extended early. Accordingly, the contract, which is valid until 2027, will be extended until 2029. There is complete agreement between both parties.

Hack was signed by third division relegated Arminia Bielefeld in the summer of 2023 for just over one million euros and developed into one of Gladbach’s few bright spots over the course of last season. With ten goals, Hack became the club’s top goalscorer.

There have been several transfer rumors doing the rounds in the past few months. Initially, Fiorentina was considered interested in Hack, who is also said to have attracted the attention of Juventus Turin and VfB Stuttgart. However, the left winger emphasized that he had never considered a change.

With a contract extension, Hack would receive a salary increase. Sports director Roland Virkus wanted to keep the 26-year-old, who was rated as a key player Sky Sport further.

Is hack now important again?

Hack has had a complicated summer; the dangerous offensive player has been slowed down by, among other things, a persistent infection. To date he has only made one starting appearance in the Bundesliga. However, the recently tame offensive could make good use of Hack’s goal threat from the last second half of the season – and in the coming weeks he may form a wing with Franck Honorat that will put the opponent in more trouble again.

For Borussia, a contract extension would be a positive signal in the midst of complicated weeks. Hack already serves as a prime example of the prescribed way to buy players cheaply, develop them and sell them for a profit. However, the latter step is not expected to be completed in the foreseeable future.
