TRIER. The Trier Gladiators‘ next away game in the 2nd Basketball Bundesliga is on Saturday, October 26th, 2024.

In Thuringia, the Moselle townspeople meet Science City Jenaone of the promotion favorites of the current season. The Jena team are currently undefeated and started the season with five wins at the top of the table and secured a clear 90:74 away win at BBC Bayreuth on the last matchday. Head coach Björn Harmsen’s team was one of the Gladiators’ toughest opponents last season and is entering the current ProA season with a very experienced and high-quality squad.

Statistically, the team from Jena is ranked by Robin Christen and Zachery Cooks listed. Christen, who was active in the BBL last season, scored averages a strong 19.6 points per game, Cooks follows with 16.4 points on average. Chris Carter, who comes from Rostock, also scores in double figures with 12.4 points per game and big man Raymar Morgan – former BBL MVP – creates a lot of danger with 8.6 points under the basket. In addition, with Rasheed Moore, Lorenz Bank, Kristofer Krause, Robin Lodders, Alex Herrera and Stephan Haukohl, there are some top players with a lot of ProA experience in the Jena rotation. Meanwhile, new signing Amir Hinton from Trier will be reunited with his former club, for which the American was one of the strongest scorers in the entire league last season.

Gladiators travel to Jena as outsiders

“With Jena we are facing the best team in the ProA to date, which consists of many experienced players and some of whom have already had big roles in the first Bundesliga. We drive as outsider to Jena and are looking forward to a really strong opponent and a good game. We trained very hard and focused this week, the boys are totally on board and are extremely motivated to get their next win against Jena. In Jena it will be important that we get the strong shooters – for example Robin Christen – as well as the physical interior players and fast guards under control. We have to find our game, get into our rhythm early, make good shots and believe in ourselves for over 40 minutes and perform with self-confidence,” said head coach Jacques Schneider before the away game in Thuringia.
