Despite his recent concussion, Tagovailoa remains determined to return to the field. His injury, which caused his arms to fall into what is known as a “fencing response,” was frightening but not out of character for him. He consulted with neurologists in Pittsburgh to make an informed decision about his future. An insider told ESPN: “He’s playing 100 percent.”

Tagovailoa: Concussions several times

Tagovailoa has suffered multiple concussions since entering the NFL in 2020. After suffering an injury on December 26, 2022, he was ruled out of the game for the remainder of the season. In his absence, Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley started at quarterback for Miami. Huntley, who came from the Ravens’ practice squad, is expected to continue to start until Tagovailoa returns.

Optimism at the Dolphins

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel emphasized that the Week 6 off game helped Huntley familiarize himself with the Dolphins’ complex offense. Tagovailoa already attends team meetings and is on the sidelines for every game. Hope is growing that he could be back on the field as the starting quarterback as early as next week.
