On Wednesday, State Secretary Claudia Zinke presented the “Immanuel Kant” comprehensive school in Falkensee (Havelland) with the award certificate and the representative sign for the school wall. “Brandenburg is a sports country and focuses on encouraging physical activity from childhood onwards. Our schools are particularly important. They motivate students to exercise in order to promote their physical, cognitive and psychosocial development. This can be clearly seen in the ‘Most Sporty School’ competition. Almost 200 schools took part – the “Immanuel Kant” comprehensive school in Falkensee particularly stood out. I congratulate all teachers and students on the title of ‘Most Sporty School in the State of Brandenburg 2022/23’!” said Claudia Zinke.

The award “Most Sporty School in the State of Brandenburg” has been awarded since 2000. The ten best schools in the competition are honored. In addition to the representative sign, the first-placed school also receives prize money of 3,000 euros for the school’s exercise, games and sports activities. The second and third place winners receive 1,000 and 500 euros in prize money, respectively. All ten schools will be recognized with a certificate for their commitment. A total of 191 schools took part this year. The jury at the Ministry of Education chose the winners:

The ten best-placed schools were invited to the award ceremony in the “Most Sporty School in the State of Brandenburg 2023/24” competition at the “Immanuel Kant” comprehensive school in Falkensee (Havelland). Each school received a certificate, and the winning school also received the wall sign “Most sporty school in the state of Brandenburg 2023/24”. The first ranked school

The “Immanuel Kant” comprehensive school in Falkensee not only offers a variety of sporting offerings and events. But it also offers an extraordinary differentiation in the sports profile. The events include the Federal Youth Games, an annual snow sports camp, district Olympics and the Run of Sympathy. The range of sports offered beyond lessons includes, for example, badminton, cross fitness, acrobatics, unicycling, gymnastics and judo. To achieve this, the school has entered into collaborations with external partners, including the Brandenburgische Sportjugend, the Zitadelle Spandau chess club, TSV Falkensee and SSV Falkensee. Since 2005, the “Immanuel Kant” comprehensive school has also been offering sport as an elective at secondary level I. That’s four hours of sports lessons in addition to physical education lessons for trendy sports such as parkour, spikeball or ultimate frisbee, among others. Since 2017, high school students have been offered a sports performance course, which also includes sports theory, training theory, sports medicine and sports socialization. Its own sports hall, a fitness, gymnastics and dance room and other outdoor sports areas with basketball hoops, table tennis tables, a hockey field and a volleyball court enable the school to carry out the many offerings on site.
