China News Service, Fangchenggang, October 27 (Xu Zhe, Gan Zhenli) On the evening of October 26, the 8th Guangxi Ten Thousand Villages Basketball Game and Guangxi Community Games Municipal Competition kicked off in Fangchenggang City. The ASEAN International Students League and the Fangchenggang representative team selected players from each other to form the China-ASEAN Friendship Team and the China-ASEAN Solidarity Team for competition. On the 27th, in Dongxing City under the jurisdiction of Fangchenggang, a basketball team from Vietnam also held a friendly match with local players.

This year is the China-ASEAN Year of People-to-People Exchange. Representatives from ASEAN countries were invited to participate in the event. The football match served as media and economic and trade drama. The two cross-border events enhanced the sports and cultural exchanges between Guangxi and ASEAN countries and continued the traditional friendship.
Former national basketball player and Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame member Hu Weidong kicked off the opening game. After watching the game, Hu Weidong said that sports have no borders, and Fangchenggang City is adjacent to Vietnam. Vietnamese fans can be invited to Guangxi to participate in the “Village BA” to make friends with the ball, exchange skills and make progress together. It is hoped that the event will make more people pay attention to the development of rural areas.
Fangchenggang City has actively improved the construction of a national fitness public service system in recent years. Chen Wenzhi, deputy director of the Fangchenggang City Culture, Radio, Television, Sports and Tourism Bureau, said that the China-Vietnam Mong Cai Lantern Festival Football Friendly Match has been held locally for 29 times. This year, the China-ASEAN Marathon will also be held, with a total scale of 20,000 people.
The popular Guangxi Wancun Basketball Tournament has sparked a national fitness craze. It is reported that since the “14th Five-Year Plan”, Guangxi has raised a total of about 1.1 billion yuan in central and autonomous region funds to support the construction of 1,430 sports venues and facilities in various places. The coverage rate of sports venues and facilities in communities and administrative villages in the district has reached 100%, and a 15-minute fitness circle has been initially built in urban communities in the district.
