Coach Martin Schwalb suffered a bitter defeat in the handball Bundesliga when he returned to his old place of work. The 61-year-old lost with HC Erlangen with 33:38 (19:20) goals at the Rhein-Neckar Löwen, who he had looked after until 2021. For Erlangen it was already the sixth defeat in the seventh game.
The HCE celebrated its only win so far when Schwalb returned to the league on matchday five against newly promoted team 1. VfL Potsdam. The Lions, who are currently without the injured national player Juri Knorr, have now caught up with the top trio Füchse Berlin, MT Melsungen and TSV Hannover-Burgdorf (all 10:2) thanks to their success with 10:4 points in their account.
Meanwhile, HSG Wetzlar celebrated its second win in its seventh game and gained some breathing room in the bottom of the table with a 31:26 (14:15) win against HSV Hamburg.
